Glue Binding
Glue binding is a varient on the metal strip type of Channel Binding. Here the hard covers have a strip of heat-setting glue up the spine. The pages are places into the spine and the whole book is then put into a heating machine for about 5 minutes. When the glue has cooled the pages are fixed to the spine. Glue Bindings are very convinient, especially as the pages can be removed again merely by putting them back in the machine, so changes can be made. In addition the Glue Binding covers are particularly attractive, since their spines are not distorted by a metal clamp as in Channel Binding, and appear to make wonderful mouse-mats.
Pitfalls:
Although attractive a Glue Binding is not really as strong as a clamped version. Stress on the pages can cause them to pull out, and there is then no easy way to put them back in place. Since most RPG's will be used roughly this is a significant problem.
Cost:
Glue Binding is not as common as Channel Binding, and seems to be slightly more expensive, about £7.00 appears average. This is more expensive than plain Channel Binding.
