A Short Story Anthology

Death and Life form a circle. We die, we live, and we die again. At the points inbetween lurk ghosts, spirits, murderers, memories. Not everything that dies stays dead, and not everything that lives is alive. In the right soil, life can be born from death, or so it seems.

Owl Bones is a collection of 13 stories drawn from the shadows between life and death. From science fiction, fantasy, and horror, to Scottish folklore — these stories follow the cycle of death, undeath, and rebirth. Inside you will find: unquiet shades, elephantine aliens, murder victims, guardian spirits, malicious (and friendly) fairies, and a non-zero number of cats. (Because it wouldn't be a David M Donachie book without at least one cat.)

About the Book

Owl Bones is my second collection of short stories (following 2018's Night Alphabet). This time the stories focus on death, and the various ways we might come back from it.
