Centaurs
Are the Centaurs native creatures of the Ravenwood befreinded by the Elves? Are they the products of Seridar's long lost magics? Are they the lost Horsekin of Kaishar, who have become closer to their Spirits than any other Elf? No Elf seems to have an answer to these questions.
Regardless of their origins the Centaurs now live apart from the Elves of the Ravenwood, sometimes friends, sometimes enemies. More often than not they co-exist on friendly terms with local Elf Tribes, with whom they share many features, such as respect for the spirits and their ancestors. Where such is the case Elf Speakers may call on the Centaurs to join them in war, a call that is usually answered.
The call is usually answered because the Centaurs are a far more martial race than the Ravenwood Elves. Though they can survive on a diet of grass as befits their equine halves, they prefer fresh meat, and thrill to the hunt. Centaur Stallions fight each other for control of their herds, often inflicting fearsome injuries on one another, and when relations with the local Elves break down the Centaurs often raid their Tribal villages, stealing and taking what they cannot make for themselves.
Despite this barbarity the Ravenwoods respect the Centaurs even when they are forced to fight them. They hold that the Centaurs are closer to the animal spirits than they are, and their bestiality is as natural as that of the Wolf or the Bear.
