Archers

Each arrow is a gift from the trees, blessed and grown with the will to strike true

On the hunt Elves armed only with the bow and gutting knife seek the smaller and more elusive prey, Martins, Wolverines, Foxes, Crows and the like. For the most part such hunters are Kin of the Hawk, gifted with the hunting spirit and keen eyesight. In larger hunts the archers join those harrying the prey towards the waiting Swords and Spears.

In war the Hawk-kin take their bows to battle and provided ranged support for the other Kins. Unlike Wood Elf Spears and Swords, who join the battle only when Elf lands are severely threatened, Archers are often called upon to do battle, and come readily. For them the shock of killing in anger is lessened by the distance their bows afford.

Although archers carry their long hunting knives as secondary weapons on the battlefield, it is more common for them to scatter and melt back into the trees than it is for them to fight hand to hand.
