The Monk

The little man gestures you over into a dark corner.

"I saw you looking at the door into the crypts. They say that there are many forms of death lurking below, but that the ultimate reward a man can aspire to lies hidden behind the door with four locks. I can see right away that you are a brave and strong individual, but everyone needs a little edge. I have spent much time in the libraries of the Wizard's House and I have assembled a map of dangers in the passages below. Can I interest you in it, for, say, 20 pieces of gold?"

Do you reply:

  1. "I'll have nothing to do with it, begone you scab."
  2. "No thank you, I must be on my way."
  3. "Yes, here is the money."
  4. "Outrageous, no more than 9 pieces."

The Monk

Monk: "Never! 14 pieces at the very least."

  1. "I will pay no more than 11."
  2. "Nine is your last offer!"
  3. "I will settle for that."
  4. "Let me see it first"

The Monk

You hand over the money and the little man runs off into the labrynthine temple. You unroll your 'map', only to find a page torn from a book of sacred verses, clearly not the one the Monk was holding. You have been robbed! There is nothing more to do here.

The Monk

Monk: "11, robbery! However I can see you drive a hard bargain, let us say 13."

  1. "Take 11 or leave it."
  2. "Twelve."
  3. "All right, 13."
  4. "Let me see what I would pay for.

The Monk

Monk: "Ten!"

  1. "Nine!"
  2. "All right 10.
  3. "Let me see that!"
  4. "I'm off, this is ridiculous."

The Monk

The Monk unrolls a parchment upon which you can see a well drawn network of passages with various symbols marked upon it, but he will not hand it over to you.

Monk: "Now that you have seen its quality, 15 pieces of gold."

  1. "No more than eleven pieces."
  2. "Agreed"
  3. "For that, it is worth no more than 7."
  4. "I have seen enough."

The Monk

You grab the scroll he was about to give you, it is a page torn from a prayer book, the map is secreted up his sleeve, and turns out to be of the sewers below the capital. You grasp him by his neck and call out, "Thief!". Two of the Village's guard hurry over and drag him off to the Town House, leaving you In the Temple.

The Monk

Monk: "Do I look like a fool to you, seven is simply an insult, I insist on Ten."

  1. "Nine is my offer."
  2. "Seven!"
  3. "I don't want it at all."

The Monk

Monk: "All right, I can see why you search for the ultimate treasure, you must be poor."

  1. "OK, here is your Seven pieces."
  2. "That is too little, I don't trust you, give me that!"
  3. "It is too cheap for me, I'm no longer interested.

The Monk

The Monk sighs: "All right, I suppose so, give me your money."

  1. "I think not theif!"
  2. "Here it is."
  3. "No, let me give you 14."
  4. "I'm not interested any more."
  5. "Actually its only worth six pieces."
  6. "Actually its only worth four pieces."
  7. "Impostor!"

The Monk

Monk: "Do I look insane, the paper is worth more than that. I think you are just toying with me."

  1. "All right, here it is."
  2. "How about 13?"
  3. "Well then, I'm off."

The Monk

Monk: "I am sorry I must ask for 15."

  1. "Well, I suppose so."
  2. "No more than 13."
  3. "No more than seven is all its worth!"
  4. "Show me the map again."
  5. "Nine!"
  6. "I'm going."
