The Corn Road runs from the gates of Nistray Counterturn towards Last Home. It is named after the enormous quantities of corn that are carried along it to satisfy the appetites of Ningaur's people.
The Corn Road is generally in good condition, wide, and surfaced with rounded cobbles taken from the One River's tributary streams. Guard posts are situated every ten Klegs, although they stop short at the border of Last Home's territory. Occasionally flash floods from rain storms in the plataeu will wash away sections of the road entirely, but it is quickly repaired.
The Lion's Path is a route that runs through the poison forest from Ur to Last Home. It begins at the Lion Gate of Ur, and then turns Counter, running through thick jungle, before turning Daywards to climb the slopes towards Last Home. Along the way it connects many smaller villages and settlements.
The Lion's Path has a grand beginning, and a grand end. Each extremity of the route is metalled with flagstones, and flanked by a dozen pairs of carved Lions arranged on plinths. These are known as the Lion's Sentries, and it is believed that they will come to life to protect the city should an invading army aver attempt to use the road.
The middle section of the route is less auspicious. It crosses countless water channels, and although there are wooden bridges along some of these stretches, much of the road is waterlogged, muddy, or actually a hand's breadth under the water. When the One River floods the road is often entirely impassible, and slave gangs from Ur are constantly dispatched into the Jungle to re-erect the bridges, a thankless task that often leads to casualties.
Indeed, the road is so bad, that most merchants prefer to bypass the bulk of it, taking their cargo by boat between Ur's docks and Lion's Elbow.
A river and trail that runs from Sorgan's Fall into the depths of the Nightlands. Most voyagers travel the Night's Valley by river, at least as far as Borruk. Beyond this ice-sleighs are the best choice.
The Canyon Trail is a route right on the extreme periphery of settled land, beyond Wind's Canyon. It passes through a long expanse of wind blown dryland, past white ash lands where trees used to be, to the foot of a mountain range, where it terminates at Kuthar. It once passed over the mountains from Kuthar to Urukag, but this route is long closed.
The name of the main route leading from the Riverlands to Hellgrass Reach. Although a direct route from Derzak would ideally pass far Counter to Nistray, the position of Nistray and Ur's lands force travellers from Derzak to travel upriver to Sword Landing before they start to journey Sunwards.
